Widow of Man Who Killed Christian County Deputies Facing Charges

Yvonne Bird, whose husband Richard Bird shot and killed two deputies and injured two others before he was killed, is facing federal charges.

Yvonne Bird was indicted in Federal Court last week on two counts of unlawful transport of firearms and intent to distribute a controlled substance.

According to federal court records, on February 16, Stone County Deputies conducted a search of the Bird Residence on Y Highway in Galena 

Stone County deputies responded to a residence on the 4200 block of State Highway Y in Galena, Missouri, on Feb. 16, after receiving a tip about stolen property. Multiple firearms were found in the search of home. 

The Birds posted bond on State Charges on February 23 and it was later that day that Richard Bird was pulled over on a traffic stop that led to the shooting of the deputies. 

The federal charges were filed last week against Yvonne Bird, who being held without bond in the Greene County Jail in Springfield.
