Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon across the Lakes Region.
According to the National Weather Service, a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms exists for areas across southern Missouri and north-central Arkansas, mainly southeast of a Branson to Eureka Springs line. The remainder of the region is under a Marginal Risk for severe weather.
The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph. Quarter-sized hail and locally heavy rainfall are also possible.
The highest risk for severe thunderstorms is expected between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. though not all areas will receive rain according to forecasters.
Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware and monitor forecasts for potential watches and warnings throughout the day.
