UPDATE 9:15 am: The National Weather Service Office in Springfield has upgraded the Missouri Lakes Region, including the Branson area, to an Extreme Heat Warning until 7:00 pm this evening.
The warning statement indicates Heat Index Readings at 110 or greater are possible as air temperatures will be above 100.

A frontal system passing through late today will usher in cooler temperatures, but not before the Lakes Region could see its hottest day of the season.
The National Weather Service continues the Heat Advisory until 7:00 pm today while the NWS Little Rock Office has upgraded part of the Lakes Region including the Harrison area to an Extreme Heat Warning. Temperatures today are expected to be at or above 100 degrees with Heat Index readings above 110.
The front does bring a slight chance of rain but mostly a change of wind direction from the north, which will drop temperatures the rest of the week into the upper 80s to around 90 for the high.
