Mr. Travis Griessel, Hollister High School Social Studies Teacher, has been selected to participate in the esteemed Principles of the American Revolution Educator Institute, in partnership with PBS LearningMedia, hosted by the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The event will take place from Sunday, July 20th to Friday, July 25th, 2025.

The National Constitution Center, renowned for its role in educating about the Constitution, offers this unique opportunity for educators to deepen their understanding of constitutional history and its contemporary relevance. During the week-long institute, participants will work alongside constitutional scholars and pedagogical experts to explore the American Revolution’s principles and the foundational ideas that shaped the United States' Constitution.

The focus of the program is threefold: building a historical foundation through storytelling, learning to interpret the Constitution like a constitutional lawyer, and developing the skills to facilitate civil dialogue in the classroom. Educators will also explore techniques to help students separate political views from constitutional perspectives, fostering an environment of non-partisan civil discourse.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in such an impactful program," Griessel said. "This institute will provide me with valuable tools and resources to engage students in meaningful, non-partisan discussions about the Constitution and its relevance today."

The National Constitution Center reimburses participants for their travel expenses, ensuring educators from across the nation can take part. The program is open to educators working with grades 5–12 from public, charter, independent, and parochial schools.
