Crane High School Teacher Loses Job After Drug Arrest

A teacher who was in her first year with the Crane School District is out of a job after her arrest on drug charges.

24-year-old Peyton Fletcher was arrested on December 22 while traveling in Camden County after an officer pulled her over on a violation of illegally tinted windows. Fletcher's behavior made the officer suspicious of possible drugs in the vehicle, especially after Fletcher noticed the officer had a K-9 Partner. Eventually, Fletcher admitted to having cocaine in the vehicle and was arrested.

Crane Superintendent Dr. Kelli Rogers tells Ozarks First that Fletcher was hired as a high school English teacher this past year but is no longer with the district. Rogers added that while Fletcher has not been convicted, the misconduct does not meet the professional expectations of district staff members which led to her termination.

Fletcher was released on bond with her next court appearance scheduled for January 27.
