Sheila Henderson

Sheila Henderson, age 75, passed away on November 12, 2025.

Sheila (Stowman) Henderson, age 75, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 10, 1950, in Fairbanks, Alaska, Sheila was the cherished daughter of Frank and Opal (Hurd) Stowman, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her brother, Jimmy Stowman.

Sheila's witty humor, warmth, faith, style, and grace left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sheila's formative years in Fairbanks culminated in her graduation from Lathrop High School. Furthering her education at Brigham Young University, she earned a bachelor's degree in interior design. After graduating college, Sheila moved to Anchorage, Alaska, to escape the heat of Fairbanks summers; she always said Fairbanks was too hot.

Her love for interior design led her to a 30-year career with Elaine Baker & Associates Inc. as their lead designer. Sheila's creative vision and meticulous attention to detail were evident not only in her professional life but also in the beautiful and welcoming spaces she created. She loved her work and built lasting relationships with her coworkers and clients, many of whom became close friends.

A woman of profound faith, Sheila was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith in Jesus Christ was her guiding light, and she always stood as an example of unwavering devotion. She was a gifted teacher who instilled the teachings of Jesus Christ in the primary children she taught—nurturing their spiritual growth with the same love and dedication she showed her own family. Sheila loved to sing and shared her beautiful voice as a long-standing member of the Anchorage Concert Choir for more than three decades.

To say Sheila was an avid reader is an understatement. She never went anywhere without a book, and her lifetime collection could easily fill a library. Sheila possessed an insatiable curiosity that led her to explore a wide array of subjects, finding joy in the discovery of new ideas and stories. Her home was often filled with the laughter of her grandchildren, the warmth of family, and quiet moments spent with a good book.

Sheila had a gift for storytelling—and a memory to back it up. Her sharp mind could recount details that made you feel as though you had lived the story yourself. Many of her most interesting stories were from her childhood growing up in Fairbanks. She also loved to share stories about raising her little boy, David.

Sheila is survived by her beloved son, David Henderson, and his wife, Nicole, of Washburn, Missouri; her brother, John Stowman, and his wife, Stephanie, of Fairbanks, Alaska; and her adored grandchildren, Gideon, Simon, Dawson, and Orson. Each of them carries a piece of Sheila's loving spirit and creative flair. As we bid farewell to Sheila Henderson, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, grace, and an unwavering commitment to the things that matter most—faith, family, and the pursuit of beauty in all its forms. Her memory will be cherished and her presence sorely missed, but the impact of her love and creativity will continue to resonate for generations to come.

Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cassville, Missouri under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. President Brian Artherton will conduct the services. Burial will take place at Northern Lights Memorial Park in Fairbanks, Alaska, in the spring.
