The Taney County Sheriff's Office recognized Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15.
The office released a post via Facebook. “The Taney County Sheriff’s pays their respects to those lost, injured, those who have served and are currently serving,” the post states. The post also notes that it is National Police Week; the week is designated to recognize the work of law enforcement officers throughout the United States.
The Peace Officers Memorial Day has a history going back to 1962. The day pays tribute to law enforcement officers at the local, state and federal levels who have suffered injuries or died while on duty.
