Taney County Health Department QPR Suicide Prevention Program

The Taney County Health Department is offering a program to equip individuals going through a rough time.

Q.P.R., which stands for Question, Persuade, Refer, is a training program that will help individuals recognize a real crisis that people may be going through that could lead to suicide.

Kara Miller and Omar Perez Rivera of the Health Department, during an interview on the "At Your Service" Podcast, describe the program as similar to CPR and applying that principal to a person going through a mental crisis.

According to statistics, Suicide is the ninth leading cause of death in Missouri and is the second leading cause for young people ages 10-17. Miller and Rivera say it is those statistics that led the Health Department to make this program available to the community.

The complete interview can be heard on the At Your Service Podcast on the Branson Podcast Network.
