Storms Roar Through the Region Friday Night

The storm system that caused many changes in the High School Football schedule Friday night to leave a mark in some areas of the Lakes Region.

Storms moved in late Friday afternoon and intensified as they moved through the area in the evening. Possible rotation indicated by National Weather Service Radar prompted a Tornado Warning being issued for parts of northern Carroll and Boone Counties and was extended into southern Taney County when the cell moved across the boarder from Arkansas into Missouri.

While no report of a Tornado touchdown has been made to the National Weather Service so far, there has been damaged reported by Emergency Management in Green Forest where powerlines and trees were reported down and roof damage was sustained to a grocery store. Another report to the NWS via social media indicated powerlines were down over Highway 14 just east of Highway 65 in northern Boone County.

A report filed to the weather service last indicated that  a large tree fell down in front of a house and a large branch fell across a driveway in Ridgedale in southern Taney County.

Entergy Arkansas reported to KTLO several power outages including nearly 1100 customers in Boone County were without power for awhile with several outages also reported in Marion County. Some customers still were without power as of early Saturday morning.

Heavy rain also resulted in Flash Flood Warnings to be issued in several counties in northern Arkansas including Carroll and Madison as well a parts of Barry and Lawrence Counties in Missouri.

Many High School Football games were rescheduled from Friday night in anticipation of the storms. Some were moved to Thursday or Saturday and some that were started, including the Cassville at Reeds Spring game, were suspended as the storms moved through and will be finished today.

The cold front that caused the storm will lead to a cool and windy day today with temperatures warming back into the 70s on Sunday.
