Stephanie Jean Hankins Shares her Story and Talks About the Healing and Recovery Center

Stephanie Jean Hankins promoted the 29:11 Healing and Recovery Center on Wednesday.

Hankins appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to talk about the center also known as the Jeremiah Recovery House. She works as a regional detox specialist, counseling individuals who have drug addictions. 

She revealed that before she started serving in the center, she committed a felony crime year prior.

Her past before the crime involved working in the nursing profession for 16 years. She said her husband left, her back had issues and through a chain-of-events, she went to prison. She credits a chaplin with sharing the message of the cross of Christ with her.

Hankins said she understood the message for the first time. She said she understood that she sinned.

The journey that took her to Boone County was during her parole. She attended college in the area got a job working in the library.

Hankins involved herself in organizations like Hope Cottages. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been back in the medical field as a regional detox specialist or a counselor.

She said she would like to return to nursing but does not know if it's God's will yet. More was discussed on the broadcast. Additional information about the center is available online.
