Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms impacted the Ozarks over the weekend and continue this morning as parts of the Lakes Region remain under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8:00 as another round of strong to severe storms are making their way into the region this morning.
The Watch includes Barry, Stone, and Taney Counties in Missouri and Carroll County in Arkansas.
On Sunday, several severe storms went through the Ozarks. During the afternoon, a brief tornado was reported in northern Arkansas near Nail in Newton County though no damage was reported. Later in the evening, strong storms moved through the Lakes Region then began severe once they moved toward the Springfield area. Several Tornado Warnings were issued for Greene and Christian Counties. There was damage from tornados in the Battlefield area of Greene County plus around Sparta in Christian County and Fordland in Webster County.
Heavy rain has been a part of the storms as Flash Flood Warnings were issued for parts of the region. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 1:00 this afternoon for the Lakes Region.
The rain will end later today and be replaced by hot weather as temperatures are expected to be 90 degrees and above beginning Tuesday with Heat Index Readings around 100.
