With the Missouri House voting on Wednesday to renew the Federal Reimbursement Allowance (FRA) tax after the Senate had done so in Special Session, the state avoid major cuts to other areas of the Budget.
Governor Mike Parson had said those cuts were coming if legislators did not renew the tax, thoughts echoed by Lakes Area Representative Brian Seitz on Thursday's edition of "Ozarks Now" on KRZK.
Seitz says this particular tax, a voluntary collection by hospitals and nursing homes that is then put back into those entities, is needed to help those that can't help themselves and needed to get approved.
Seitz went on to say that while he agreed in principle with legislators who want to restrict the use of money for abortion services, he and several fellow Republicans felt his was not the Bill to deal with that issue. A separate Bill that dealt with that issue was passed by the House but not taken up by the Senate.
