The continued hot and dry weather has moved the region into a severe drought status.
The latest report issued by the U.S. Drought Monitor through the National Weather Service indicates the entire Arkansas and Missouri Lakes region under the severe drought with the lake of rainfall beginning to impact crops and pastures as well as water supplies.
Forecasters say that rain chances will increase in the area next week but that drought conditions are expected to continue into August.
