Plumb Nellie Days Event Approved, Sparks Discussion

The Branson Board of Aldermen approve the Special Event Permit for the annual Plumb Nellie Days celebration in downtown.

While the event was approved, the topic did spark a conversation about the impact the event has with the disruption of parking in the Awberry Parking Lot as well as street closures for the event. Steve and Melissa Hartley from Dicks 5 & 10 talked about the loss of traffic in their business for the days of Plumb Nellie along with the Fall Craft Festival. Steve Hartley stated they support the events but would like to explore alternatives. Ward Two Aldermen Cody Fenton said he had received similar feedback.

Jessica Luthardt of the Downtown Branson Betterment Association said during the discussion that an original plan for the downtown Streetscape Project was to put infrastructure at other locations downtown including Liberty Plaza, but those plans were scrapped by the city due to budget cuts.
City Administrator Cathy Stepp said she would facilitate meetings with the stakeholders downtown to look at alternatives for future events.
Plumb Nellie Days will take place April 19th and 20th.

More details on this and other items at Tuesday's Board of Aldermen Meeting can be found on the City of Branson YouTube Channel.
