A man living in Ozark is going to spend over two years in prison after his conviction on charges from his time as a resident of Harrisonville.
According to the case recapped by Ozarks First, 39-year-old Michael Sylvara was sentenced by a U.S. District Judge to 27 months in prison after he was found guilty of stealing is father’s Social Security payments for his own use.
Sylvara, co-owner of Volleyball Beach in Ozark, was the designated payee on his father’s Social Security payments meaning all the money was to have been spent on his father but Sylvara spent most of the money for his personal use.
Sylvara is also ordered to pay over $42,000 in restitution.
