OZARK, Mo. — Weeks after voting down a previous proposal, the Ozark Board of Aldermen has approved an updated proposal for a new building in the downtown square.
The Board of Aldermen voted 3-3 for the proposal, with Mayor Don Currence breaking the tie in favor of the proposal at Monday’s meeting.
“John has spent hours and tons of thousands of dollars working on this design to make it work,” said Currence.
Torgerson Design Partners (TDP), who is looking to build on a vacant lot in downtown Ozark, had their original proposal rejected by city leaders on April 15. The city says multiple residents and board members were concerned that the proposed building looked too modern and would be a poor fit with other historic structures in the downtown square.
