An investigation into one individual leads to the arrest of three people in two different cases.
According to social media posts, the investigation began in Douglas County where Sheriff's Officers working a drug investigation eventually made an arrest in Ozark County of Orval Donnie Merriman for trafficking a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Merriman was booked into the Ozark County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
That investigation led officers to two other individuals that were related to the drug case but were also involved in a scheme that would bring women to Douglas County via online dating aps then forcibly rape the women and extort money from them after threating to kill them and their families.
The past week two individuals, Brandon Williams age 36 and Bailey Abercrombie age 26 both of Ava, were arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail on multiple charges including Rape and Kidnapping.
