A woman from Springfield dies in a Friday morning traffic crash in Christian County.
According to the report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Highway 65 a mile north of Saddlebrooke when a 27-year-old man from Illinois swerved his vehicle to avoid slow moving traffic when the vehicle traveled off the road striking a rock bluff and overturning. A 29-year-old woman from Springfield who was a passenger in the vehicle died in the crash while the driver and a 4-year-old female juvenile passenger were both taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment of injuries.
This is the 20th fatality in traffic crashes worked by Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2026.
