While the Ozarks is in the middle of the first freeze of the year, forecasters from the National Weather Service says that people should still be alert to dry conditions in the region.
Mark Burchfield from the National Weather Service office in Springfield says during Monday’s edition of “Ozarks Now” on KRZK that the continued low humidity and lack of rainfall will keep conditions dry and make for hazardous burning conditions. Burchfield also said the current drought conditions, which is at a moderate to severe level for most of the region, will remain in place for the near future as little general rainfall is expected.
Burchfield also said this blast of cold weather is earlier than normal but does say temperatures will rebound back into normal range by late in the week.
