It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and North Arkansas Regional Medical Center employees recently spoke about the importance of awareness and more.
Kim Rosson, director of marketing and community relations at NARMC;. Dr. Drew Sessions, Diagnostic Radiologist & Stephanie Lemley, Mammography Technologist visited KHOZ's "Around the Table" program last week to discuss the importance of the month.
Dr. Sessions states several statistics, including breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer in women and one in eight women will get breast cancer in their lifetime. He goes on to say that getting screened every year is the best way to catch the cancer early and treat it effectively.
Dr. Sessions also talked about the new technology that is available at NARMC to help better detect the cancer.
Lemley added that the staff involved in the exams are very supportive of the patients, especially when a cancer diagnosis is made.
