MSHP Works Fatality, Serious Traffic Crashes Saturday

Among the accidents worked Saturday by the Missouri State Highway Patrol are a fatality crash in Christian County and a serious crash near Branson.

The fatality crash took place on Highway UU near Oldfield sometime Saturday. The MSHP Report indicates the time of the crash is unknown but that the body of 51-year-old Tommy Hampton of Ava was found around 9:00 pm. The report indicates Hampton's motorcycle struck a deer and overturned. The report says that Hampton was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The MSHP is continuing the investigation into this crash. 

Meanwhile, a teenager is in serious condition after a pick-up truck he was a passenger in struck a ditch on Highway 76 four miles east of Branson. The online report indicates the 14-year-old male from Ridgedale, not named in the report, was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment. The 16-year-old driver of the truck, also not named in the report but wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the crash that took place just after 10:00 Saturday night.
