Man Facing Murder Charge in Death of Father

The suspect of a death investigation just east of Sparta in Christian County has been identified as 45-year-old Chantry Dean Hale. He is charged with 1st-degree murder and armed criminal action and is being held at the Christian County Jail.

According to the Probable Cause Statement posted by Ozarks First, about half an hour after midnight on Wednesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office received a call stating that a person had been fatally shot.

A witness at the scene told deputies they saw Chantry hit his father, 66-year-old Jimmy Hale, with his fist and then shoot him.

Deputies arrested Chantry Hale and found that he had the debit card and driver’s license of the victim in his possession. They also found a gun in his waistband.

Deputies found that Hale had a red substance on his shoe that appeared to be blood and he was wearing a cloth glove on his right hand.

When deputies inspected the victim, they found him wrapped in a dark multi-colored blanket that was kept closed by duct tape. Next to the victim lay a glove that matched the one Chantry was wearing on his right hand.

Deputies found that the victim’s vehicle was parked and the trunk was open. A roll of duct tape lay on the cab of the vehicle.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
