A man convicted of crimes that went unsolved for 30 years will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
63-year-old Tony Lee Wagner was found guilty in March of the rape and assault of two women from Texas in the Henning State Park west of Branson in August of 1992. The case was unsolved until improved DNA testing led to the identification of Wagner, who was living in Fort Scott Kansas at the time of his arrest in 2022. The case, moved to Ozark County, was tried earlier this year and ended with Wagner's conviction.
Sentencing took place last week in Ozark County Circuit Court with Wagner sentenced to serve life in prison. Wagner is currently in the Taney County Jail in Forsyth.
