Lynard Skynyrd Tribute Concert Coming to Lyric Theatre

The Lynard Skynyrd Tribute Concert is coming to the Lyric Theatre.

Billy Youngblood from The Hedley Lamar Band and Dustin Witty from Bad Mojo appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Wednesday to talk about the event. The tribute concert is on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. Doors normally open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available online as well as on the musicians' personal Facebook Pages. It will feature other performers, including Susan Swanson.

Youngblood said he has "always been a big fan" of Lynard Skynyrd and added that they had an influence on him. He noted that Gary Rossington, the last surviving member of Lynard Skynyrd passed away. The two had previously performed a Led Zepplin tribute at the theatre; that was in 2019.

His interest came as a result of the atmosphere. Youngblood said music was part of his family. He spent time around Gospel and Bluegrass music growing up.

Youngblood's mother played piano; his grandmother was a guitarist in church. He said his father didn't force him into music but was "very persistent about it."

Witty, on the other hand, got into music at the age of 10 by exploring different activities. He said it was an idea from his parents. They were trying to find something for him to do.

He tried various options. It was a trip to Guitar Smith's that connected him with Youngblood and other musicians, sparking his interest in music.

Witty said he has played guitar for 25 years. Additionally, Witty has played bass in a band that Youngblood Billy's a part of for 11 to 12 years.
