The first drowning in area waterways covered by Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol takes place late last week.
According to the online report, the drowning occurred on Bull Creek west of Walnut Shade late Thursday morning when 76-year-old Paul Moriuchi went into the creek to retrieve his dog and drowned. Moriuchi was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after noon by a member of the Taney County Coroner's office.
With his wife Paula, Paul Moriuchi was the owner and operator of Party Magic on the Koi Garden Plaza and previously owned and operated the Koi Garden Chinese Restaurant at that same location.
