Light Winter Precipitation to Start Week Ahead of Warmer Temperatures

A brief round of winter precipitation is possible early Monday morning ahead of a week that will see temperatures warm up.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for a portion of the Lakes Region. As of 6pm Sunday night, the advisory is in effect for areas of Table Rock Lake in Barry and Stone Counties as well as other portions of southwest Missouri include the Springfield area. A mix of snow and freezing rain is possible overnight. Most precipitation will be out of the area around sunrise, but temperatures will stay cold during the day in the 30's eventually dropping back into the 20's before sunset. 

The warm-up will begin on Tuesday with temperatures in the 40's rising into the 60's by Thursday. Rain and possible thunderstorms are in the forecasts for New Year's Weekend.
