Jake brakes aren't allowed in Branson, according to a Facebook post by the city.

Jake/Engine brakes are prohibited within the City of Branson, except in an emergency. These brakes are incredibly useful on steep grades, but inside city limits, they can create loud noise that affects nearby neighborhoods and businesses.

The Branson Police Department will be increasing awareness and enforcement to help keep our community safe and peaceful. If you’re driving through town, please switch off your Jake brake to help maintain a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
