Ice to Fog in the Lakes Region UPDATE

The National Weather Service has extended the Dense Fog Advisory in the Branson Lakes Region until Noon on Wednesday and in north central Arkansas until 6:00 this evening.

The freezing rain that moved through the region Monday morning made many roads in the region undrivable for a few hours.

According to the National Weather Service Office in Springfield, areas of Stone and Taney Counties around the Branson/Kimberling City area and in areas to the northeast received the highest ice accumulations, recording anywhere from a quarter to a half an inch of ice. The rest of the surrounding region in Missouri and Arkansas saw totals mostly from a tenth to a quarter of an inch.

The ice presented challenges in the Lakes Region for Emergency Responders. Johnathan Tudor with the Taney County Ambulance District tells Ozarks First that they had delays getting to some calls due to the slick road conditions and had a couple of their ambulances slide off the road, though no patients were in the vehicles at the time of the slide offs.
Ben Stabo with the City of Branson tells Ozarks First that crews were out as soon as possible treating the roads and that most people staying home and not trying to drive made their job easier. 

While most of the ice is gone with warming temperatures, a few slick spots still remain on some secondary roads. 

This morning, the issue is fog that has settled into the region. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for the region this morning with visibilities at a quarter of a mile or less in the Ozarks. Rain is expected to continue today as well with temperatures to stay above freezing for the rest of the week.
