National Weather Forecasters predict a very hot week leading up to the Fourth of July.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Missouri Ozarks through Friday evening, though forecasters say there is a chance the advisory could be extended into the holiday weekend.
Heat index readings are expected to be around 100 with temperatures in the 90s for highs and evening lows staying in the 70s.
While Arkansas counties are not in a Heat Advisory currently, temperatures are still expected into the low 90s with heat index readings in the upper 90s.
Officials are posting heat precaution reminders including to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
People should also take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
While pop-up showers are possible, no major rounds of precipitation is in the forecast for the next seven days.
