A project to replace one of the most recognizable bridges in the Lakes Region is underway.
The Highway 86 Bridge over Table Rock Lake at Long Creek got underway last week. When completed, a new bridge will replace the existing one that crosses the lake near the Taney/Stone County Boarder.
According to a release from the Missouri Department of Transportation, the existing bridge was opened in 1956 with the condition deteriorating over the last few years causing frequent repairs to be made. Highway 86 and the current bridge will remain open for most of the project with a few closures needed toward the end of the project to connect the road to the new bridge with completion expected in September of 2025.
American Bridge Company out of Pennsylvania will construct the bridge with project costs coming in at around $66.5 million.
MODOT will hold an informational meeting on the project on Tuesday September 13 from 4:30-6:00 at the OTC Table Rock Campus in Hollister.
More information can be found on the project's website.
