Heat Broken by Storms Rolling Through the Region

The recent run of hot and dry weather is broken late afternoon Wednesday as severe thunderstorms moved through the Lakes Region.

While the majority of the Lakes Region was spared the strongest of storms, areas in Barry and Stone Counties reported some storm damage.

One of the stronger storms occurred between Purdy and Monett in Barry County where a microburst wind gust damages two farm outbuildings and roughly a dozen trees. NWS Coop Observers also reported quarter size hail with the storm.

Fire and rescue officials report to the NWS that several trees were knocked down over roadways in the Hurley area in Northern Stone County.

Strong storms with 40-50 MPH wind gusts were reported in the Branson area as well as areas around Eureka Springs.

The temperatures will be cooler over the next few days but humidity will be high with several rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected over the region.
