Hawley pushes plan to eliminate taxes on healthcare

WASHINGTON – Missouri U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley is introducing a bill called the “No Taxes on Healthcare Act,” which aims to eliminate taxes on a wide range of healthcare costs.

Hawley says the bill would allow taxpayers to deduct up to $25,000 in out-of-pocket medical expenses per person or dependent. It would also allow healthcare premiums paid out-of-pocket to be tax deductible.

At the end of 2025, the enhanced premium tax credits that help millions afford insurance under the Affordable Care Act are set to expire, a change that could lead to significantly higher monthly premiums unless Congress acts.
