Harvest Homecoming is October 7

Harvest Homecoming is in just a few days, according to Carrie Richter.

Richter appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Monday to talk about the event. She leads the event that's set for Oct. 7 on the Square; it will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. "I am pumped, I'm excited, I'm nervous. I'm super, super excited about this event," Richter said. She added that "many wonderful people" have helped.

It's sponsored by The Central Ozarks Farmers and Artisans Market. Richter said the event is a way to "give back to the community every year." The event officially starts at 8:30 a.m.

Richter said live music will begin at 9 a.m. with Harrison High School's jazz band. "I love everybody else, but that's my favorite. I'm a band mom at heart," she said.

A "Golden Pumpkin Award" will go to the vendors who set up and decorated for the event. Richter said other events, like "The Wee Ones on Wheels Race," will occur during Harvest Homecoming.

This isn't a true race. Richter said it's "more like a parade." This accessible event is open for children up to 12, but anyone can participate. Registration for it opens at 9 a.m. and the event itself is scheduled for 10 a.m.

Food, live music and more will run throughout the event. Bakers have an opportunity to win a $100 grand prize.

They can win the prize by competing in the apple pie baking contest. There's an adult and youth division; each division has its own $100 grand prize. Registration for the baking contest is open from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

The big reveal of the winner is scheduled for 3 p.m. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview with Richter is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
