Harrison will join School Districts like Eureka Springs and Mountain Home in requiring masks for the beginning of the School Year.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Stewart Pratt made the announcement last week in a Zoom Presentation, stating that the current rate of COVID-19 Infections in the School District led to the decision.
Pratt said masks will be required until September 17 unless the rate of COVID Infections drop below 40 per 10,000 on the Arkansas Centers for Health Improvement District Chart at which time the mask mandate would be reevaluated. Pratt also said those numbers and trends would be looked at on the 17th to decide how to proceed from that point.
Pratt also said that if the injunction against the State Law that prohibited School Districts from enacting Masks Mandates is lifted, then mask would immediately become optional in accordance with State Law.
Pratt also talked about the other safety procedures the School District would implement to keep students and staff safe during classes which begin this Wednesday.
