H2 Ozarks, other Organizations Awarded Money from Arkansas Agency for Projects

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Commission is helping area agencies with water and waste water projects.

According to a release from the Arkansas Agriculture Department, four of the announced projects are in the Lakes Region including:

-H2Ozarks: The organization is getting $500,000 to continue their Septic Tank Remediation Program. The program allows landowners who own failing septic tanks to receive financial assistance for either repair or replacements of the tanks.

-Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District No.1: $838,704 has been granted to the district to install ultraviolet disinfection equipment and all related yard piping, connections, and appurtenances to keep the system in compliance with the recently revised  Arkansas Department of Environmental  Quality Total Residual Chlorine Limits. 

-Parthenon Water Association: The association will be recoating their ground storage water tank as well as install a water quality mixer with the $65,920 from the commission. 

-City of Huntsville: The biggest project in the region is the $32.6 million to upgrade the city's aging wastewater treatment plant. The release indicates that the project will allow for a new treatment process with a smaller structure footprint to replace the existing treatment plant. 

Over $265 million in financial assistance was awarded for 40 water and wastewater projects which serves more than 233,547 Arkansans.
