The Natural Resources Committee of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture announces grant awards to help with wastewater management and clean water efforts around the state.
According to a press release, one organization working on a project in the Buffalo River Watershed will receive $278,400. H2Ozarks will use the money to administer the Septic Tank Remediation Pilot Program. Boone, Madison, Marion, Newton, and Searcy are among the counties that are included in that program.
Meanwhile, the Arkansas Rural Water Association received a pair of grants. One in the amount of $125,000 to continue funding assistance for a Circuit Rider to provide onsite assistance to water systems with operation, maintenance, management, and financial problems. The other grant is for $65,000 to provide continued training and technical assistance to water and wastewater systems throughout the state.
These grants are a part of over $35.4 million announced by the commission to help with projects throughout the state.
