Forsyth Schools Using Donated Land To Develop Outdoor Animal Science Lab for Ag Classes

The Forsyth School District is expanding their Agriculture Program to include Real Time Farm Experiences.

The District will use some land donated several years ago by the Herschend Family on the edge of Forsyth to develop an Animal Science Lab that will include a working Farm with Livestock, a Glade Project, Forestry Site, and other elements to allow students hands on experience.

Forsyth Superintendent of Schools Jeff Mingus, during an interview on Wednesday's Ozarks Now Program on KRZK, said the site will benefit the nearly 140 students involved in the AG Classes and Future Famer of America Programs with first hand learning and understanding of Agriculture and its importance to the region. 

The Forsyth Board of Aldermen earlier this week approved an exception to the prohibition of Livestock in the City Law to allow for the development of this property, which will also include the development of additional walking trails for public use.
