A member of the Forsyth Police Department is in stable condition after being shot during pursuit of a suspect Tuesday night that was eventually taken into custody.
Taney County Sheriff Brad Daniels tells the Branson Tri-Lakes News that the incident started as a road rage situation that was reported to his department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Later, the suspect was spotted walking along Highway 160 near Kissee Mills Jct. A Forsyth Police Officer, working in Mutual Aid with the other agencies, attempted to make contact with the suspect when he opened fire striking the office. The suspect fled leading to a manhunt that involved several other agencies including the Branson Police Department and Christian County Sheriff’s Department.
The suspect was eventually located and due to an injury, was taken out of the woods by a rescue team from Central Taney County Fire.
The suspect, 37-year-old David Viner, was arrested and is awaiting charges for the incident. The officer involved in the shooting has not been identified but is in stable condition at a Springfield Hospital.
