The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas is now into its fourth decade of helping feed the hungry through partnerships and programs throughout the area.
Food Bank Executive Director Jeff Quick, during a recent interview on KHOZ's "Around the Table" talked about the beginnings of the organization and how they work with food pantries and other organizations to help families struggling with food insecurity. The Boone County Resource Council is one of the groups that the Food Bank works with according to Quick.
He talked about the mobile food pantries that which includes stops the third week of the month at the City Park in Jasper on Wednesday and the First United Methodist Church in Harrison on Friday. Another program discussed the Senior's Farmers Market Nutrition Program in which eligible seniors can purchase coupon books good at several area Farmers Markets.
Quick said that Arkansas remains the state with the most food insecurity in the country while Searcy County is the most food insecure county in the state.
