The first alert has been issued for the potential for Winter Weather later this week.
The National Weather Service Offices in Little Rock and Tulsa have issued a Winter Storm Watch that begins Friday afternoon for northwest Arkansas and Friday evening for north central Arkansas. Current forecasts call for a possible four inches of snow in that region in addition to extremely cold air with gusty winds.
The National Weather Service office in Springfield added a Winter Storm Watch for parts of the Missouri Ozarks including the Lakes Region early Wednesday morning. The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Friday afternoon through late Saturday night.
The current forecast for the Lakes Region calls for the majority of snow to begin after midnight on Friday.
