A frontal system dropped temperatures just low enough to significant snowfall for parts of the Lakes Region Monday.
The snow spread through the region around sunrise with some areas getting two to three inches of snow in the first hour. The highest snowfall total reported to the National Weather Service was around Clever in Christian County with a weather observer reporting six inches of snow. Most of the region saw four to five inches of snow.
The heavy falling snow caused many slide-offs through the region as motorist tried to navigate the roads on the morning commute. The Missouri State Highway Patrol worked a slide off crash on Highway 76 at Mount Branson where the vehicle went into a deep ditch as well as one on Highway 160 west of Walnut Shade where a vehicle overturned. Everyone involved in those crashes escaped with just minor injuries.
A few slick spots may remain on roads this morning, but temperatures in the upper 50s to around 60 that are in the forecast for this afternoon will melt most of the remaining snow.
