False Alarm Causes Alert at Spokane Schools

An alert Friday to a possible intruder at Spokane Schools prompted a large response from law enforcement.

Posts on the Spokane School Facebook Page say that officers from both the Christian County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol did several sweeps of the school after an alert was received about a possible alert inside the Spokane Middle School Building. With the close proximity to the High School Building, all buildings on the main campus were searched.

No evidence was found of any intruder and later in the day, Superintendent Kent Doyle told several media outlets that their alarm system was suspected to have a malfunction that sent out the errant message.

Students were released early in the afternoon and Spokane canceled both Boys and Girls Basketball Games that were scheduled that night.

More details can be found on the school's Facebook Page as well as a recap on the Ozarks First Website.
