Despite the week of rain that moved through the Ozarks in mid- September, dry conditions remain in parts of the Lakes Region.
The latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates areas northeast of a Kimberling City/Branson/Yellville line to still be in Severe Drought with overall water levels remaining low and continued stress on vegetation.
Other areas in the Missouri Lakes Region are either in Moderate Drought or Abnormally Dry.
Meanwhile in northern Arkansas, conditions improved more with some of the heaviest rain falling in the region. Areas southwest of the Yellville line including the Harrison area are at Moderate Drought to Abnormally Dry levels while all of Madison County, most of Carroll County, and the western part of Newton County have been cleared of drought conditions.
The forecast for the next week continues to show little if any rain in the forecast though a break in the above normal temperatures are expected next week with high temperatures reaching only the 70s in the forecast by Wednesday.
