Drought Still an Issue in parts of the Lakes Region

While the abnormally warm temperatures seem to be done for the year, a lack of rainfall is still an issue for parts of the Lakes Region.

The latest report issued last week from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates that levels in the region have been stagnant which for parts of northern Arkansas, means a Moderate Drought Level continuing with pressure on crops and water levels. While most of the Missouri Lakes Region is just at an Abnormally Dry Level, there has been no lessening of the levels for three weeks. In addition, areas around Joplin are still in an Extreme to Exceptional Drought Level, the two highest designations with Agriculture interests in that area suffering significant losses. 

While temperatures will remain mild, there is currently no rain predicated by forecasters for the National Weather Service for the next week.
