The recent trend in dry conditions expanding over the Lakes region continues.
The Latest Map from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows the Missouri Lakes Region at a Severe Drought level while in northern Arkansas, areas generally north and east of a Eureka Springs-Harrison-Marshall line are at a Moderate Drought level with the remainder of the area still Abnormally Dry.
Despite recent rains, the overall area still needs more rainfall to turn the trend. Many river levels continue to fall and vegetation is stressed due to the lack of rainfall.
A wetter weather pattern is expected in the Lakes Region over the next week according to the National Weather Service.
