Drag Show Ordinance Passes in Branson

After more discussion at the early part of Tuesday night’s Branson Board of Aldermen Meeting, the Ordinance to restrict to the Downtown area is approved by a 4-2 vote.

After several speakers addressed the issue during the Public Comment Section to open the meeting, several members of the board made final comments. Clay Cooper, who was not present during the first reading of the ordinance in July, said he was supporting the proposed law though he thought there might have been a slightly different approach that could have been used instead of focusing on downtown, a sentiment echoed by Cody Felton. Ruth Denham said the existing ordinance on Adult Entertainment restricts it to the downtown area and felt this ordinance should use the same area as the boundary.

Cooper and Denham were joined by Marshall Howden and Ralph LeBlanc in supporting the ordinance while Fenton and Chuck Rodriguez voted against the ordinance.

The new law will restrict Drag Shows to areas around downtown and also regulate the distance the shows can be from Churches and Schools.
