Congressman Steve Womack was a guest on KHOZ’s Around The Table on Friday; Womack discussed appropriations and spending during COVID-19.

“I’ve been an Appropriator since I came to Congress,” Womack said. He has been doing this for 11 years. Along with many responsibilities, he serves on THUD as well. He said it is a big portfolio of things the Federal government does. “I’m part of the group that funds one third of the government.”

Womack said he has opposed a lot of the recent government spending. He said the “money is going out the door ostensibly to help people through this COVID crisis” but that money is being wasted. He said he believes in accountability. Womack added that he thinks that when history is written on this period, it will show the government financial waste that took place. He highlighted the good that has been done but emphasized that the money is being borrowed. “This is not free money; this is not Monopoly money,” Womack said.

The full interview featuring Womack is on Around The Table’s Facebook Page.
