“Elect,” is a graphic art exhibit about choices. “Elect” ventures back to the classical philosophers, who believed humans reside within an ordered universe governed by rules or patterns. The moral realm was once considered similar to the physical, where societal and personal outcomes are repeatable and predictable, similar to gravity acting on matter. Classical thinkers distilled this concept down to fourteen fundamental behaviors, seven virtues and seven vices, from which all human behavior may be traced. “Elect,” at its core, is a modern rendition of the virtues and vices that pokes a little fun at consumer culture.
