Burleson: Diamond City Moving Forward After "Hiccup"

Diamond City is moving forward after after a rough start to the month according to the city's Police Chief.

Troy Burleson, during an interview on KHOZ's "Around the Table" program, recapped the events earlier in March that saw Mayor Jamie Nuessner and Burleson, along with the other officials and most of the City Council resign over some conflicts that had occurred in the city. Burleson described the situation as a "hiccup."

Burleson said that Nuessner did not want to resign and though he didn't disclose the reason he had to stepdown, he said that his and other city officials loyalty to him led them to follow suit to make a point. Burleson said after conversations with the Arkansas Municipal League, most of the officials including the majority of the council decided to return. Burleson added that he expects a new mayor to be appointed at a meeting next week.

Burleson added that the city has seen a lot of growth over the three and a half years of Nuessner's tenure and while some new investors in the community had some hesitation after his departure, it is his belief that most will continue with their plans in Diamond City.

Burleson discussed his decision to comeback as Police Chief though he said it is only temporary as he is looking for his successor now. Burleson added that he will be staying busy with his many business ventures and does plan to continue serving as Police Chief in Omaha.
