Branson, Missouri Mayor Larry Milton declared Oct. 26 "Lights on Afterschool Day" on Tuesday night.
The proclamation, issued during the Board of Aldermen meeting that night, recognizes the role programs like the Boys & Girls Club of the Ozarks play in the community. The mayor said that afterschool programs offer "safe and engaging learning experiences" and highlighted the impact such programs have on families.
The mayor also acknowledged that the recognition extends beyond Missouri. "Lights on Afterschool Day" is nationally celebrated.
